Simple Thanks:
A Thanksgiving Prayer

These were simple men and women.  Simple not of mind, but simple in the things that brought pleasure and happiness.  If anyone was to come to this simple but comfortable home, they would see any other typical family dwelling, but it was Thanksgiving and these simple men and women had come to give thanks…together.

When all the preparations were complete, everyone was called to join hands one to other…this family of friends and loved ones to give thanks.  Simple people, simple thanks.

“We thank you Lord God…on this day set aside to give You Praise and Thanks…”

“…For blue skies…”

“…That help us see the day clearer…”

“…For rainy skies”

“…That make us appreciate the days that are gray…”

“…For the sun that warms our bodies…”

“…For the love that warms our spirits…”

“…For family…”

“…For wives and husbands…”

“…Whom You have given us…”

“…With whom we’ve chosen and promised before you to spend our lives…”

“…For parents…”

“…Who brought us into the world…”

“…Who love us through our triumphs…”

“…And who especially love us when we seem unlovable…even to ourselves”

“…For children…”

“…Who are the source of our tears…both in joy and in sorrow…”

“…For brothers and sisters…”

“…With whom we learned about the important things in life…”

“…That of sharing…”

“…Of giving…”

“…Of caring…”

“…We thank You for friends…”

“…That connect us…”

“…Who give of themselves unselfishly…”

“…Who know our faults…yet are still by our side…”

“…Who help us celebrate the good times…”

“…And those who help us through the times that would seek to crush us…”

“…For the Touch of Love…”

“…That cleanses our tears…”

“…For laughter and smiles…”

“…That allow us to share joy…”

“…For memories…together…”

“…For shared times…together…”

“…For Your Grace…”

“…For Your Mercy…”

“…For Your Forgiveness…”

“…For Inner Peace…that only You give…”

“…For the Safe Haven of Your Strong Arms of Love…”

“…For those who we have loved who are no longer with us…”

“…And especially for those who thankfully are with us today to love…to cherish…”

“…For all these and so much more, Our Father, we give you united thanks….”

“In Your Glorious Name…Amen…”

Simple people…simple thanks…simply wonderful!

The End…

A Blessed Thanksgiving to All.
